Day 1 – Jesus Existed Before the World Was Made

Advent Calendar-01

Did you know that long before the very first Christmas Day, Jesus already existed?
Read John 1:1-3.
Jesus was with God in the beginning, and all of creation was made through Jesus!

 

Day 2 – The First Promise of Christmas

Did you know that the first promise of Christmas can be found in the first book of the Bible, Genesis?
Read Genesis 3:15 .
God promised that Jesus would one day defeat Satan and sin.

 

Day 3 – Jesus, the Prince of Peace

Did you know that Jesus is called the Prince of Peace?
Read Isaiah 9:6.
He restores our relationship with God. Through Jesus, we can have true, everlasting peace and harmony with God!

 

Day 4 – We Can Become Children of God

Do you know how to become a child of God?
Read John 1:12.
When we believe and put our faith in Jesus, we become children of God. Jesus came down to Earth on Christmas Day so that we can all become His children!

 

Day 5 – The Most Amazing House

Did you know that Jesus is preparing a room for each one of us in heaven?
Read John 14:2.
God loves us and really wants us to be with Him in heaven! When we believe and put our faith in Jesus, we can look forward to being with God in His most amazing house!

 

Day 6 – The Birth of John the Baptist Foretold

Did you know that an angel appeared to Zechariah to tell him that his elderly wife Elizabeth was going to have a son?
Read Luke 1:13.
Because Zechariah did not believe, the angel made him unable to speak until his son, John the Baptist, was born!

 

Day 7 – Jesus is Immanuel, God with Us

Did you know that Immanuel means “God with us”?
Read Matthew 1:23.
Jesus is not a God who is far away. He is always close by.

 

Day 8 – The Birth of Jesus Foretold

Did you know that an angel appeared to Mary to tell her that she would give birth to Jesus, the Messiah?
Read Luke 1:30-33.
Even though Mary did not fully understand what was going to happen to her, she responded in faith and obedience.

 

Day 9 – Mary Visits Elizabeth

Did you know that while John the Baptist was still in his mother’s womb, he leaped for joy when Mary visited Elizabeth?
Read Luke 1:42-45.
Elizabeth called Mary “blessed” for believing the good news about Jesus. We, too, are blessed when we believe in Jesus!

 

Day 10 – Mary’s Song

Have you ever rejoiced over a gift even before you received it?
Read Luke 1:46-55.
Mary had faith in God and sang a song of praise even before Jesus was born!

Day 11 – The Birth of John the Baptist

Did you know that John the Baptist was sent by God to prepare God’s people for Jesus, the Messiah?
Read John 1:6-7 and Luke 1:17.
John’s mission was to tell God’s people about Jesus. As part of our Christmas preparations, we, too, can tell others about Jesus!

 

Day 12 – Zechariah’s Song

Have you ever played the quiet game, where the last person to make noise wins?
For Zechariah, it was not a game. He was prevented from speaking for nine months!
When he could finally speak again, he worshiped God in song, praising God for coming to save His people.
Read Luke 1:68-75.

 

Day 13 – An Angel Appears to Joseph

Did you know that an angel visited Joseph in a dream, telling him to take Mary home as his wife even though she was pregnant?
Read Matthew 1:20-21.
Joseph was frightened and confused, but he readily believed and accepted God’s plan, and took Mary home as his wife.

 

Day 14 – Jesus, the Son of Abraham

Did you know that God promised Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky? All nations of the world would be blessed through him!
Read Genesis 22:17-18.
Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promise. Jesus is the son of Abraham and the Savior of the world.

 

Day 15 – Jesus, the Son of David

Did you know that long before Jesus was born, God promised King David that one of his descendants would rule forever?
Read 2 Samuel 7:16.
God’s promise to David was fulfilled through Jesus!

 

Day 16 – Jesus, the Son of God
Advent Calendar-16
Did you know that Jesus is God’s Son?
Read the genealogy of Jesus in Luke 3:23-38.
Jesus was the son of Joseph, who was a descendant of King David, who was a descendant of Abraham. But most importantly, Jesus is the Son of God!

 

Day 17 – Jesus, the Light of the World

Do you like looking at Christmas lights?
Read John 8:12.
Christmas lights are certainly beautiful to look at. But the light that Jesus talks about is not a physical light we can see.
Jesus is the spiritual light of the world. This spiritual light helps us know God and understand what is true and righteous.

 

Day 18 – Jesus, the Good Shepherd

Did you know that Jesus called himself the Good Shepherd?
Read John 10:11.
Let us remember that Jesus is our Good Shepherd. He provides for us and protects us.
He loves us so much that He laid down His life for us on the cross.

 

Day 19 – Jesus is King

Did you know that long before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah predicted the birth of a very special child who would be a very special king?
Read Isaiah 9:6-7.
Jesus is fulfilment of Isaiah’s prophecy! He is our Savior and King who would reign forever!

 

Day 20 – The Birth of Jesus

Did you know that it was prophesied that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem?
Read Micah 5:2.
Around the time for Jesus to be born, the Roman rulers ordered everyone to return to their hometown to be counted.
Joseph and Mary had to travel to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born in fulfilment of Micah’s prophecy!

 

Day 21 – The Angels Praise God
Advent Calendar-21
Did you know that there was grand heavenly celebration on the night Jesus was born?
Read Luke 2:8-14.
Isn’t that amazing? A great company of heavenly host praising God on the very first Christmas!
Let us also sing praises to God for the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

 

Day 22 – The Shepherds Tell Others About Jesus
Advent Calendar-22
What would you do if angels appeared to you and told you about the birth of the Messiah?
Read Luke 2:15-20.
This happened to a group of shepherds, and they simply had to check it out!
When they found the baby, they told everyone about what the angels had said, and everyone was amazed!

 

Day 23 – Jesus Presented in the Temple
Advent Calendar-23
Do you have any family traditions for newborn babies? Joseph and Mary were required to present Jesus at the temple.
There, they met a righteous and devout man named Simeon, and a prophetess named Anna.
Read Luke 2:30-32.
Simeon and Anna praised God for Jesus, the Messiah who would bring salvation to the world!

 

Day 24 – The Magi Visit the Messiah

What would make you travel a great distance to search for someone?
Read Matthew 2:1-2.
When the Magi saw a new star, they knew that a very important King had been born!
They were excited about their discovery and traveled a great distance to worship and present precious gifts to Jesus!

 

Day 25 – The Best Christmas Gift Ever
Advent Calendar-25
Did you know that Jesus is the best Christmas gift ever?
Read John 3:16.
God gave us His Son, Jesus, as the perfect Christmas gift!
If we accept God’s perfect gift of Jesus, we can have a relationship with God.
We can become children of God and we can one day be with Him in heaven!
